How to Allow ActiveX in Internet Explorer
In today’s digital world, ActiveX controls play a crucial role in enhancing the functionality of web pages. However, due to security concerns, ActiveX controls are disabled by default in Internet Explorer. If you need to enable ActiveX controls for a specific website, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to allow ActiveX in Internet Explorer.
Step 1: Open Internet Explorer
First, launch Internet Explorer on your computer. You can do this by clicking on the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop or searching for it in the Start menu.
Step 2: Access Internet Options
Next, click on the gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the Internet Explorer window. From the dropdown menu, select “Internet Options.”
Step 3: Navigate to Security Tab
In the Internet Options window, click on the “Security” tab. This tab contains various security settings for different zones, such as Internet, Local Intranet, and Trusted Sites.
Step 4: Select the Website
Under the “Security” tab, click on “Trusted Sites” from the list of zones on the left-hand side. Then, click on “Sites” in the lower section of the window.
Step 5: Add the Website to Trusted Sites
In the “Trusted Sites” window, click on the “Add” button. Enter the URL of the website for which you want to enable ActiveX controls and click “Add.” This will add the website to the Trusted Sites zone.
Step 6: Enable ActiveX Controls
After adding the website to the Trusted Sites zone, click on “OK” to close the “Trusted Sites” window. Now, go back to the “Security” tab and click on “Custom Level” in the lower section of the window.
Step 7: Modify Security Settings
In the “Security Settings – Trusted Sites Zone” window, scroll down to the “ActiveX controls and plug-ins” section. Look for the “Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins” option and select “Enable.”
Step 8: Apply and Exit
Click “OK” to save the changes and exit the “Security Settings – Trusted Sites Zone” window. Then, click “OK” again to close the “Internet Options” window.
Step 9: Restart Internet Explorer
Finally, restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect. Now, when you visit the website you added to the Trusted Sites zone, ActiveX controls should be enabled, allowing you to enjoy the enhanced functionality of the web page.
By following these steps, you can easily allow ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer for specific websites. However, always exercise caution when enabling ActiveX controls, as they can pose security risks if not used responsibly.
