How to View Passwords Saved in Internet Explorer

In today’s digital age, it’s not uncommon to save passwords on various websites for convenience. Internet Explorer, being one of the most popular web browsers, allows users to store passwords securely. However, there may be instances when you need to view these saved passwords, perhaps for security reasons or to retrieve a forgotten password. In this article, we will guide you through the process of viewing passwords saved in Internet Explorer.

1. Open Internet Explorer

The first step is to open the Internet Explorer browser on your computer. Ensure that you are using the latest version of Internet Explorer for the best experience.

2. Access Internet Options

Once Internet Explorer is open, click on the gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the window. This will open the Settings menu. From the menu, select “Internet Options.”

3. Navigate to the Content Tab

In the Internet Options window, you will see several tabs at the top. Click on the “Content” tab to access the content settings.

4. Click on the “Passwords” Button

Within the Content tab, you will find a “Passwords” button on the left side. Click on this button to open the Password Manager.

5. Enter Your Credentials

The Password Manager will prompt you to enter your Windows user account credentials. This is to ensure that only authorized users can access the saved passwords. Enter your username and password, and then click “OK.”

6. View Saved Passwords

Once you have entered your credentials, you will be presented with a list of websites for which you have saved passwords. Each entry will display the website’s name, the username, and the password. To view the password for a specific website, click on the “Show” button next to the password field.

7. Copy or Note Down the Password

After clicking the “Show” button, the password will be displayed in plain text. You can now copy the password or note it down for future reference.
