How to Hide Ribbon in File Explorer Windows 11

In Windows 11, the File Explorer comes with a modern and sleek design, but some users might prefer a more minimalist interface. One way to achieve this is by hiding the ribbon, which is the toolbar at the top of the window that contains various buttons and options. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to hide the ribbon in File Explorer on Windows 11.

Step 1: Open File Explorer

To begin, open File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon in the taskbar or pressing the Windows key + E on your keyboard.

Step 2: Access View Options

Once File Explorer is open, click on the “View” tab at the top of the window. This tab contains various options for customizing the appearance of File Explorer.

Step 3: Click on “Options”

In the “View” tab, you will see a “Options” button on the right side of the ribbon. Click on it to open the Folder Options dialog box.

Step 4: Select “Customize the ribbon”

In the Folder Options dialog box, click on the “View” tab. Then, click on the “Customize the ribbon” button to open the Customize the Ribbon dialog box.

Step 5: Deselect “Address Bar” and “Quick Access Toolbar”

In the Customize the Ribbon dialog box, you will see a list of available tabs and groups. Look for the “Address Bar” and “Quick Access Toolbar” options and deselect them. This will hide the ribbon from the File Explorer window.

Step 6: Click “OK” to Apply Changes

After deselecting the “Address Bar” and “Quick Access Toolbar” options, click “OK” to apply the changes. The ribbon should now be hidden in File Explorer.

Step 7: Restart File Explorer (Optional)

To ensure that the changes take effect, you may need to restart File Explorer. You can do this by closing all File Explorer windows and opening them again, or by using the Task Manager to end the File Explorer process and then opening it again.

By following these simple steps, you can easily hide the ribbon in File Explorer on Windows 11, giving you a cleaner and more focused interface for managing your files and folders.
