How to Show Images in File Explorer
In today’s digital age, managing and viewing images on your computer is an essential task. File Explorer, the default file manager in Windows, provides a convenient way to organize and access your images. However, by default, File Explorer may not display images as thumbnails. This article will guide you through the steps to show images in File Explorer and enhance your image viewing experience.
Step 1: Open File Explorer
To begin, open File Explorer on your Windows computer. You can do this by clicking on the File Explorer icon on the taskbar, pressing the Windows key + E, or searching for “File Explorer” in the Start menu.
Step 2: Change the View Options
Once File Explorer is open, you need to change the view options to display images as thumbnails. To do this, click on the “View” tab at the top of the window.
Step 3: Enable Thumbnails
In the “View” tab, you will find a group of options called “Layout.” Click on the dropdown menu next to “Layout” and select “Thumbnails.” This will display your images as small thumbnails, making it easier to navigate through your collection.
Step 4: Customize the Thumbnail Size
If you find that the thumbnails are too small or too large, you can adjust the size by clicking on the “Options” button at the bottom-right corner of the File Explorer window. In the “View” tab of the Folder Options dialog box, you can select a desired thumbnail size from the “Items in folder” dropdown menu.
Step 5: Show File Name, Extension, and Date Modified
To make your image viewing experience more informative, you can display additional details such as the file name, extension, and date modified. In the “View” tab, check the boxes next to “Name,” “Extension,” and “Date modified” under the “Show/hide” section.
Step 6: Sort and Filter Images
File Explorer allows you to sort and filter images based on various criteria. To sort your images, click on the column header you want to sort by, such as “Name,” “Date,” or “Size.” To filter images, click on the “Search” box at the top-right corner of the window and enter a search term.
Step 7: Use Image Preview
When you hover over an image thumbnail, a preview of the image will appear. This feature allows you to quickly view the image without opening it in a separate program.
By following these steps, you can easily show images in File Explorer and make the most of your image management experience. Enjoy your enhanced image viewing experience!
