How to Check Apps Running in the Background

In today’s digital age, our smartphones are equipped with numerous applications that make our lives easier and more convenient. However, with so many apps installed, it can be challenging to determine which ones are running in the background, consuming battery life and resources. This article will guide you through the process of checking apps running in the background on both Android and iOS devices.

Android Devices

On Android devices, you can easily check which apps are running in the background by following these steps:

1. Open the “Settings” app on your Android device.
2. Scroll down and tap on “Battery & performance.”
3. Under the “Battery” section, tap on “Battery usage.”
4. Here, you will see a list of apps along with the amount of battery they have consumed in the last 24 hours or since the last full charge.
5. To see which apps are currently running in the background, tap on “Running” in the menu at the top.

This will display a list of all the apps that are currently using resources on your device. You can then decide which apps to close or manage their background activity.

iOS Devices

On iOS devices, checking apps running in the background is a bit more limited, as Apple has restricted access to this information. However, you can still monitor app activity by following these steps:

1. Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Scroll down and tap on “Battery.”
3. You will see a list of apps along with the amount of battery they have consumed in the last 24 hours.
4. To see which apps are using the most battery, swipe left on an app and tap on “Show Activity.”

This will display a graph of the app’s battery usage over the past 24 hours. While you cannot directly see which apps are running in the background, you can still identify apps that are consuming a significant amount of battery and manage their activity accordingly.

Additional Tips

1. To improve battery life, consider disabling background app refresh for apps that you don’t need to use frequently. This can be done by going to “Settings” > “General” > “Background App Refresh” and toggling off the switch for specific apps.
2. Keep your apps updated to ensure they are optimized for performance and battery usage.
3. Uninstall apps that you no longer use, as they may still consume resources in the background.

By following these steps and tips, you can effectively manage the apps running in the background on your Android or iOS device, ensuring optimal performance and battery life.
